You may be worried about the amount hair that you lose every time you brush or shampoo your hair. Perhaps it is time to look closely at the matter, before the condition worsens. It is common for some amount of hair to fall every day. However, when your hair starts to thin you need to take steps to counter it.

Be gentle
Very often women who have strong and thick hair tend to pay little attention to the chemical processes that they their tresses are exposed to. Coloring, perming and straightening, are some such treatments that weaken hair. It is crucial that you understand what affect a certain treatment or product will have on your hair. Speak to your hair stylist before you decide to make a change in your hair color and style.
While blow drying your hair is an efficient way of styling it, exposing the hair to high temperature also causes damage. It is best to air dry your locks, and if required, blow dry only when the hair is almost dry. To avoid breaking your hair, use a wide toothed comb to untangle it. A boar bristle brush will help keep your hair healthy by evenly spreading oil through the hair.

Stay healthy
Often hair loss may be a sign that says that all is not well with your body. Rapid weight loss, dieting and an inadequate diet are some reasons that you may be losing weight. It is important that you eat smart and include all the food groups in your meals. Illness and medication such as antibiotics may also play a key role in hair loss.
Most of us lead hectic lives and stress plays havoc with our health. It is important to incorporate an exercise and relaxation routine to your daily schedule. Take an hour daily to do something that you like or challenge yourself to learn something fun and new.
Are you sensitive?
Some people are vulnerable to hair thinning and baldness because of their genetic makeup. Testosterone is found in varying quantities in both men and women. The hair follicles and the glands that produce sebum have strong levels of 5- alpha-reductase. This enzyme interacts with testosterone and produces DHT. DHT is known to cause baldness. If your body is sensitive to DHT, you can use hair care products to counter it.
