It’s the end of a long day and you can’t wait to crawl between the sheets and get some much needed rest. Take a few minutes to give your skin some attention and pampering. At the end of what should be a nightly ritual you will feel more relaxed and content.
Your bedtime ritual
You need to cleanse your face of all traces of makeup. This will ensure that your skin cells breathe freely and are not clogged. Use a cleanser that suits your skin and the makeup that you wear. Pay close attention to the eyes and surrounding area; leave no trace of mascara and eye color. Once your face is makeup free, gently rinse it with a suitable face wash and pat dry. Now apply a cream or lotion that is created keeping in mind the delicate facial skin.
There are many overnight creams available in the market and you can select one that is right for your skin tone. You may also like to try an organic skin cream that will naturally moisturize and heal your skin. Use a soft brush to gently removes the dead cells on the lips and use a lip balm to keep the skin well nourished and soft.
One of the biggest advantages of following a bedtime cleansing and moisturizing routine is that the affect of the products you apply is not hampered by makeup, pollution, sunlight or wind. Your body is at rest and as it recovers from the strain of the day it regains much need moisturizing. You can also use products that may seem too oily or sticky to be used in the day.
If you aren’t taking a shower, then wash your hands and feet with warm water and a gentle cleanser; it is best to avoid using a bar of soap. Such cleansing will free them of sweat, dirt and grime. You can now apply a lotion or oil such as olive oil. Gently massage it into your skin till it feels soft and not oily. You could use a hand cream and massage your fingers, palms and wrists; give some special attention to the cuticles of your nails. Likewise use a foot cream to pamper your toes and soles. Wear gloves and socks to keep your extremities warm and protected.
Untangle your hair with a wide toothed comb and brush it away from your face. You could use a headband to keep your hair from falling on your face. Choose soft and comfortable bed sheets to sleep on. Do ensure that the pillow covers are clean or they may pass on bacteria to your face. Try to sleep on your back, at least when you get into bed and are trying to fall asleep.
