Large facial pores can make your skin appear uneven and unattractive. Most women try to conceal such pores with foundation. However, unless you try to understand why you have large facial pores you may not be able to care of the condition effectively.
Most women who have oily skin often complain of large facial pores. This condition is usually caused when the pores are clogged by dead skin cells or makeup. The body continues to produce sebum and it remains clogged in the pores, thereby enlarging them.
Keep the skin clean
The first step to taking care of enlarged skin pores is to keep the skin clean. It is important to use a cleanser that is suitable for one’s skin type. A toner that contains natural or herbal astringents such as organic apple cider and persimmon leaves is recommended by skin experts. Exfoliating the skin will ensure that it remains clear of dead skin cells and blackheads. It is important to use warm water to wash the face and the last rinse should be with cold water, which would aid in closing the pores.
Keep the body healthy
The body’s internal state is often reflected in its pallor and skin condition. It is important to eat a healthy and balanced diet, and refrain from eating too much of oily and spicy foods. It will be best to minimize one’s intake of processed foods that offer little nutrition. Drinking six to eight glasses of water daily keeps the body well hydrated and helps it flush out toxins.
Some natural remedies
A few home remedies that are found to be effective with large open pores include the application of tomato juice. The tomato juice is applied and allowed to dry for about ten minutes before the skin is washed clean. One may also try a face pack of the white of one egg and half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix the two ingredients together and apply for about 15 minutes, and then rinse the skin clean. This application helps tighten the facial skin.
Makeup and more
After the skin is cleaned, it is important to apply a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin. If you leave the skin dry, the body will try to compensate by producing more sebum. This will only add to your troubles. Opt to use oil free makeup. Don’t use too much of foundation in an attempt to cover up your large skin pores. If you use an oil controlling product, apply it only on the areas where the skin pores appear large. This usually includes the skin on the nose, forehead and cheeks.
Sun protection and ageing
Large and open skin pores are also associated with sun damage and ageing. It is important that you protect your skin with a sun protection product with a SPF of 30 or more. Do ensure that the product offers protection from both UVA and UVB rays. You may also like to invest in products that facilitate collagen production in the skin. This makes the skin more elastic and would prevent pores from enlarging.
