The lips and the eyes are the most attractive features on any face. It is perhaps because they convey so many expressions and moods. Not many of us are born with luscious lips, but they can definitely be colored to appear so. The art of applying makeup is a rather ancient one, and across cultures men and women have used it to make themselves appear more attractive.
Tips on how to make your lips look fuller
The lip liner and lip color that you use can do wonders to your lips. Depending on your choice of color and manner of application they can make your lips appear fuller or thinner. You should choose a lip color that suits your skin color and the natural color of your lips. Try to avoid a color that seems to be out of place on your face.
Before you begin, gently exfoliate the skin on your lips with a soft baby tooth brush. Now apply some lip balm to keep the skin soft and supple. Apply a pretty shade of lip color to your lips. Now choose a lip liner not according to the color of the lipstick but in fact the color of your skin. Choose a color that is a tone lighter than your skin. Now outline the lips carefully. The lines should not be on the inside of the lips but on the outer edge. Draw a line that is not too thick, as then it will stand out against your lip color. Now reapply the lip color and ensure that it merges well with the liner.
You could use a sponge applicator to merge the lip liner with the lip color. In case one lip is smaller than the other you can use a neutral colored lip pencil to create a new edge to your lip. Do ensure that the lips look proportionate and balanced. Now apply the lip color to reach the newly created edge of the lip. If you are applying make up for the working day, use a long lasting lip color which will not look faded before the day ends.
Tips on what not to do
- Don’t use a lip liner that is bought to match a lipstick or is darker than its color.
- Avoid matt lip colors when you want to make your lips look fuller. Instead opt for a glossy look. If you are trying to achieve this look in a hurry then add some lip gloss to your lips after you have applied the lip color.
- Avoid dark colors that tend to make the lips look smaller; instead opt for softer or brighter colors such as red, pink and orange.
