Quite often at the end of a day you may remember to remove makeup from our face and clean your hands but forget to care for your feet. Your feet are an important part of your body; after all it is your feet that get you places. Sadly, in your busy work and home schedule you may have little time to sit back and pamper your feet. Just trimming your nails isn’t enough to give your feet the care it deserves. Here are some quick tips on caring for your feet and keep them looking and feeling great.
Keep them clean
It is important that you keep your feet clean and hygienic. Your feet perspire and need to be cleansed well and kept dry. For this it is important that you wash your feet at least twice a day with a gentle disinfectant and pat them dry. Do remember to clean the parts between your toes. Cut your nails when they are dry with a toenail cutter. This will ensure that you cut them neatly and don’t leave any jagged edges. Cut your nails from the edge towards the middle of the nail and then complete cutting the nails. Smoothen out the edges with a nail file. A cuticle cream will keep your toes soft, healthy and moisturized.
Keep them stretched
Your feet are restricted in the confines of your shoes and need to be stretched often. You can do some simple foot exercises as you sit on your desk and carry on with your work. Remove your shoes and stretch and relax your feet. Now wriggle them a bit and feel the flow of blood increase to your feet. Place one foot on the floor and the other over it. Stretch the top foot down as the lower one pushes it up. Repeat a few times. Tap your feet, like you would do the beat of music. Finally use your toes to trace alphabets on the floor, quite like you would on wet sand on the beach.
Keep moving
If you spend most of your day on your feet then it is preferable to move about. Remember to stretch your feet and wriggle your toes whenever you can. You could keep two pairs of shoes at work. This way you can take a break from your high heels for a few hours.
Pamper them
Massage your feet every night with a foot cream, after you have washed and dried them. Treat yourself to a pedicure to keep your feet looking well cared for. Opt for footwear that suits the season and occasion. In the summers when your feet tend to sweat a lot, ensure that they get plenty of air. Also remember to wash your socks and pantyhose hygienically. Buy shoes that are well fitting and give your toes enough space to stretch comfortably.
